The religious influence was that by studying geography the muslims could tell the time. By being able to tell the time the muslims could figure out when to pray 5 times a day. By doing this they could worship better and know that they were praying at the right time. The other religious influence was that by also studying geography they could find out were they were at all times. This helped them because when the muslims prayed they could know which way to face. They always had to face Mecca when they were praying, so therefore they could tell which way was Mecca.
